OVERVIEW
The Challenge
Mostro Cine Coop, an alternative audiovisual collective from Montevideo, Uruguay, had a strong visual identity but no website that could match it. Their online presence was inconsistent, making it difficult to showcase their creative work, attract collaborators, and communicate their independent spirit to new audiences. The challenge was to design and build a bold, authentic website that captured the collective's irreverent character — without sacrificing usability or clarity for visitors exploring their work for the first time.
My Approach
I drove the project from visual research through to implementation. After immersing myself in the collective's aesthetic — their film work, visual references, and the broader alternative cinema scene — I defined a design direction that balanced artistic expression with functional clarity. I designed the full site in Figma, validated the information architecture through a detailed sitemap and wireframes, and built the final product in WordPress using Divi Builder. The focus throughout was on high contrast, expressive typography, and visual impact — while keeping the navigation intuitive.

How I got there
Research & Moodboard
Studied the collective's film work and visual identity. Built a moodboard of references from the alternative cinema world to align on aesthetic direction — bold, raw, and distinctly Mostro — before any design began.
Sitemap & Architecture
Defined the site structure: Home, Films, Collective, and Contact. Prioritized a simple, impact-driven navigation so visitors could discover the work without friction.
Wireframes & Design
Created low-fidelity wireframes to validate layout concepts with the team, then moved to high-fidelity designs in Figma — using high-contrast visuals, expressive typography, and full-bleed imagery to embody the collective's creative identity.
Implementation
Built the site in WordPress with Divi Builder, translating the Figma designs with high fidelity. Collaborated closely with the collective during content integration, made final refinements based on their feedback, and launched at mostro.uy.
